It's hard to find a place to start when planning a wedding. First and foremost, a budget must be in place. Be sure to stick within the average percentages and you will be just fine. Take a deep breath, you will do just fine. Here goes:
- Attire 5-12%
- Cake 2-3%
- Ceremony 6-10%
- Entertainment 3-10%
- Flowers 5-15%
- Invitations 2-5%
- Reception 35-55%
- Photography/Video 7-13%
- Transportation 2%
- Rings 7-15%
Setting a budget template will help determine amounts to spend in each category. The good news is that if you find a golden nugget under budget in one category - it can roll over to another.
I have created my budget below. This is not the end-all and be-all just yet, but is a good starting point.
- 1.Reception (food) 45%
- 2. Photography/Video 10%
- 3. Flowers 10%
- 4. Ceremony 7%
- 5. Entertainment 5%
- 6. Attire 5%
- 7. Cake 2%
- 8. Transportation 2%
- 9. Invitations 2%
- 10. Miscellaneous snazzy extras 12%
